LONGSTANTON 1-3 ELSWORTH SPORTS

Elsworth visited unbeaten Longstanton looking to point their dissapointment from last week firmly behind them. The Pre-Match talk revolved around the need for the team to gamble alot more and pour forward at every chance. Matt Brown came back into the side in place of the unlucky Graham Tester, Ollie Barnard replaced James Kiff, Chris Roberts and Steve Rush also started after impressing earlier on in the season. The game started fairly cagey, both teams adopted simillar formations and spent the first 10 minutes testeing each other out. The Elsworth defence were thankfull from some outstanding bravery from Goalkeeper Craig Lewis, he came to collect a hanging cross and got clattered for his efforts. The midfield trio og Chandler, Spencer and De Voy seemed to be getting a firm grasp on the game, De Voy's defensive attributes complimenting the outstanding Bailie & Brownie. Matt Brading battled for everything up top and this week was well supported from Barnard and Rush who's task it was to feed off any hold up play. With the score 0-0 at half time Elsworth sensed that a win was in the offing and they took a deserved lead in the 55th minute. Captain Joe Spencer won the ball in the middle of and played in Brading who showed good pace and class as he slotted the ball home with his left foot. The second goal was soon to follow, Ollie Barnard finally got his reward for all the hard work he has put in this season by rounding a defender guiding the ball into the Longstanton net. Graham Tester joined the action as a replacement for Chris Roberts who picked up a groin strain. Moments later Longstaton found a way back into the game, a missed tackle on the edge of the box allowed Longstantons Number 12 to poke the ball passed Lewis. Elsworth immediately went back on the attack, and got their 3rd goal again through Barnard.

Without a doubt Longstanton were a good side and will be in with a shout for winning the title but today Elsworth left the pitch having worked tirelessly and concentrated for 90 minutes. It was also pleasing to see the lads play with a smile on their faces and play with the confidence their ability requires.
